The December Edit

This month we're sharing a look behind the scenes at our Minimal Modern Mar Vista Build Photoshoot, and some #BTS of our day trip to our Denver Build we've been working on for over a year. It's been a crazy busy (and fun!) month here at KHI, and we hope you enjoy this post diving a little deeper into what we've been up to. Thank you so much for being here!! x

First let's dive into our Minimal Modern Mar Vista Photoshoot - this is a project we've worked on for almost a year and a half up in Los Angeles. We teamed up with Rebuilt on the construction, and Rees Studio on the Architecture. Floor plans *of the main home* include a kitchen, formal dining, formal living, informal living, 4 bedrooms, and 4 bathrooms. And then there's an ADU (accessory dwelling unit) on the back of the property that includes a kitchen, bedroom and bath! In between the main house and the ADU is a beautiful pool and courtyard for outdoor entertaining living / dining. The desired design aesthetic for the project was a minimal modern vibe, so we selected finishes that were just that: minimal and modern. But as we always do, we found a way to infuse warmth and earthiness into the spaces :). Here are a few photos of the build / early phases of the construction so you can really appreciate how far it's come!
Ok now that you've seen where we started... here are some photos of the finished spaces. AHHHH, we absolutely SWOON, how about you??
I mentioned this on our socials, but managing projects from conception to completion is a lonnnnnng and often times painful process. There's always ups and downs in construction, so seeing this complete and turn out as absolutely stunning as it did is so very meaningful. Being in the space with my team yesterday able to style and capture it with a professional lense was everything!! If you think it looks beautiful in the (iphone!) images above, just wait until the profesh photos!!!

Okay lets recap our day trip to Denver to check in on our #DenverBuild. We took a day trip a few weeks back, flying to see this project in person for the first time ever believe it or not. This is a project we've worked on for over a year and a half (remote) so being able to see it was INCREDIBLE. We've poured ourselves into thoughtfully designing every inch of this home, and to see it coming to life, honestly, made us emotional. The bones of the home - meaning the windows, the doors (all the natural light!), the high ceilings with wood beams, and the floor plan / layout with all paths leading you outside to the beautiful exterior courtyard + pool make it so so special. Sharing some images below of the site visit where we took inventory of everything that we've ordered / delivered to site so far, specified grout for tile throughout, confirmed paint colors for the interior walls / front door, confirmed heights of wall sconces throughout, and talked through remaining to-do's for the next few months while construction wraps up. Still to come: white oak flooring, cabinetry, countertops, lighting and plumbing fixtures, and the remainder of the tile... SO STAY TUNED. The next time we head out (March/April) that will all be done, and we'll be installing insanely beautiful furnishings. It's going to be nothing short of stunning. We can hardly wait.
